I’ve been in the program seriously for 1 and a half years. We are very much in love, and he doesn’t drink around me, but when he is not with me he will drink, and once in a great while smoke pot. We are not kids, I am 53 and he is 43. He also has been in an abusive (wife abused him)relationship for 22 years, and never has gotten help for the affects its had on him. What should I do? I really want our relationship to work, but he has had anger issues in the past with me, says he is willing to get help, but we can’t go any farther in our relationship until he gets help, or somehow quits smoking pot and drinking. What can I do? Please help me

(We’ve been married for about a year.) Sometimes I have to work nights and when I come home he is already very drunk. Other nights, like tonight, I try very hard to get enough rest, but he stays up and watches t.v. very loud and I end up staying up most of the night while he passes out snoring and hogging the bed.

Only when he’s drunk do we tend to argue and he slurs his words and follows me around sometimes picking a fight. I try to tell him about it the next day, but he never believes me. I tape record it on my iphone as evidence to back me up when i talk to him now.

It’s another sleepless night for me (he was watching “the hangover” and blasting it over our stereo system) and I have been doing research on how to help this problem and I have found that most people say it is the fault of the wife and that he probably doesn’t like his life.

I try to be good person, I try to have a good relationship with him. He has a job he loves and he makes tons of money. He seems to be escaping his life, but I’m not sure why. I’m not a nagging person by nature and I am very supportive of him and I work hard and I am very good with money. We do both work, but we spend as much time as we can together doing nice things.

I want to fix this problem and when I read that I could be causing it I was very hopeful, because if I am I want to make it stop, I love him and I want him to be happy and I don’t want us to fight or be exhausted all day at work. I love being married and I love him. Please help if you can or if you have any ideas! Thanks!

I told him to leave because he woke me up at 3 in the morning drunk, and his girlfriend yelled at me so I called her a Bitc* then he hit me so I beat him up. For you people that think I was wrong to call her that just remember that they disrespected me first In my home and I have a first amendment right to the freedom of speech and that includes my opinion. The police made me leave my home that is in my name only because her credit is screwed. I filed for divorce and would like to know what you think my chances are of getting custody of our 5 year old daughter that doesn’t need to be raised by an Alcoholic mother that will not discipline her children at all and lets them get drunk and drop out of school and stay up all night and steal and blames me for her drinking. I do have bank statements that show how often she goes to the liqueur store and witnesses as to her drinking also some pics of her family and all of them are with alcohol. to show the lifestyle she grew up in and what she thinks is normal. Do you think I will get my 5 year old daughter in court next week or am I screwed because I am a man.

So now there are times when I start worrying from her first sip, because I’m afraid that she is going to drink too much. I will try and say slow down, but then we’ll fight about that. I had aspirin in my drawer she found them and used them all up.

I have never said anything, but lately I’m getting tired of biting my tongue.

She only thinks about herself and nobody else.

Since then she has become very alcohlic and has caused problems in our marriage and our family. She is mean when she’s not drinking and worse when she is. Sh has called my job in a drunken tirade and made me look like an ass in front of my boss. There are many, many episodes besides that. About four years ago I had had enough and checked in to a rehab clinic myself. She went through it and we thought everyhting was okay. She was still as mean as ever though, what they call a ‘dry drunk’. About a year ago I would find marijauna butts and wine bottles hidden around the house. I don’t drink and neither does my son. I knew she was drinking again but was in denial. My son would call me a t work ( I work at night) and tell me she was at it again drunk. I have had the cops come to my house because of her and she has accused me of things I haven’t done. I love her but i don;t like her like this. I’m tired and wonder if I should go.
