She wants to go out drinking with her mother , and her mother is one of those people who think 1or 2 drinks and she can still drive. Last time i had to go pick her and her coworker they both swore they only had 2 drinks and the drinks might of been drugged. Honestly it was just they had way more then 2 drinks and where uber smashed. I would drive them both my self to and from but i can’t naturally leave my daughter at the house alone or take her to a bar. Would it be better to hire a personal drive for that night or drive them up there drop them off then come back and pick them both back up?
Should i just trust them to be smart about it if there to intoxicated to not drive.

Of course the obvious answer is to quit, and maybe I’ll have too… I’ll explain.

I don’t drink a lot, in fact it is extremely rare that I get even slightly intoxicated. But I do like to have a few beers on the weekend. I never go out drinking with “the guys” at bars like I did when I was single, because now that I am married I believe that can be trouble, and I dont want her to worry. So like now, I’m just watchin TV and having a beer like I usually do on Friday night (fun, huh?).

She denies it when I confront her with it, but there is always such disaproval in the way she acts when I drink. Which is strange, because when we met she drank a lot but rarely does now. I still like to though, and I am responsible about it. I never drive if I’ve had even one drink, I don’t get stupid and i have never ONCE said or done anything negative to her while drinking. Am I right to stand my ground and be myself, or should I stop drinking to appease her?
yeah it wouldn’t be that big of a deal to stop, I guess I just feel like I’m being molded or something haha. I’m a engineering student, and after a particularly mentally exhausting week it is nice to have a few to unwind.

Yes, I do take her out, try to include her. Tonight I took her out to dinner, and she did have a beer.

Definately not a religious thing, she’s not religious at all… alcohol is a touchy subject in this country, I’d rather stop drinking than to cause serious problems in our marriage; but at the same time I don’t think it’s healthy for our marriage if I just give in to her whims all the time.
Awesome advice everyone, thanks. BT, yes she used to drink heavily when she was a teenager/early 20′s and it got her into a lot of trouble. That is a big part of why it bothers her. I was raised by parrents who always drank responsibly, so I guess that’s why i dont see the problem with it…. again, thanks everyone.

March 13, 2007 –Our White House Press Corps sources report further disturbing news about President George W. Bush. Our sources have witnessed a clearly inebriated Bush approaching members of the press corps and making rude comments, including one particularly crude remark about First Lady Laura Bush. In that case, Bush, nodding toward Laura, called her a “c**t.” While Bush’s drinking is no secret to the White House press contingent, that particular comment was reportedly the worst they have heard uttered by Bush. Our sources also report that Laura Bush’s stays at the White House are less frequent and that her overnight trips to the Mayflower Hotel often coincide with the president’s drunken binges.

Note: Some of our female readers were shocked to see the “C” word in the above news item. This editor wants to make it clear that word was used by George W. Bush to denigrate his wife.
Wayne Madsen Report
Ask the White House Press Corp. The news is spreading like wildfire around the country.
The press is the least of the President’s problems. He’s in over his head and is given anything he wants to fail again and again. Relish in news no one has because Reporter Girl is abusing the free speech system. Report her!

Okay, so maybe I was a little tipsy when the cops dragged me away, shirtless, for getting into a fight with that horse outside of Walmart, but I was NOT drunk! And yes, I had had two or twelve beers when I stood up in church, once again shirtless, and urged everyone to join me in “the wave”, but I definitely was not intoxicated; I hold my liquor well. Besides, that was the most boring funeral EVER, and it needed someone to break the depressing mood.

My wife keeps nagging me, though, saying crazy stuff like, “My mother told me not to marry you! She said I’d regret it if I had kids with a man who got an erection around beer!”, and also that I was being a terrible father, and setting a poor example for my kids. That can’t be true, though, since the kids get lots of sympathy gifts from their school faculty and church members, as “the kids with the drunk dad.” All in all, I think she’s making a big deal out of nothing. All men love beer, and I just am relaxing, but I do NOT have a drinking problem. How can I get her to lighten up and face reality?

A man goes to a party and has too much to drink. His friends plead with him to let them take him home. He says no he only lives a mile away.

About five blocks from party, the police pull him over for weaving and ask him to get out of the car and walk the line. Just as he starts, the police radio blares out a notice of a robbery taking place in a house just a block away. The police tell the man to stay put, they will be right back and they hop a fence and run down the street to the robbery.

The guy waits and waits and finally decides to drive home. When he gets there, he tells his wife he is going to bed, and to tell anyone who might come looking for him that he has the flu and has been in bed all day.

A few hours later the police knock on the door. They ask if Mr. Joe is there and his wife says yes. They ask to see him and she replies that he is in bed with the flu and has been so all day.

The police have his driver’s license. They ask to see his car and she asks why. They insist on seeing his car, so she takes them to the garage. She opens the door. There sitting in the garage is the police car, with all its lights still flashing.

True story: Told by the driver at his first AA meeting.

I have a wife that’s a real pain in the ass at times. More often than not actually. When she’s really bad, I drink myself into oblivion and her whining doesn’t seem as bad anymore. I don’t mind going on these little binges at times, it actually seems to strengthen our relationship.

**Also, all you “communication is key” people do NOT answer, thanks. Been there, and done that for years. Maybe she’s just a bitch…?

Well yes she is my ex wife but we are starting over after a 5 month break. We have been going back out for about 3 weeks now.

After this break we had we both understood what each other doesn’t like. So I thought we were both determined to make each other happy. Well before the break up she never got drunk or even drank at all. But she always used to talk about how she used to get messed up before. Drugs and drinking. Then she met me and Im such a square( never dranked, smoked, did drugs) that ” I ” feel like she felt that I was holding her back. If I was, I wasnt trying to but when you have 3 kids in a marriage I belive its time to settle way down and set a good image for the kids.
Any way, since the break up 5 months ago she has been living it up. She said no drugs but there was plenty of drinking. She also said no driving drunk either but I find that very hard to belive cuz she used to brag about it all the time. Well now that we are back together I told her that dinking makes me uncomfortable and I dont even like hearing about it. All I asked her to do is if she is drinking dont call me or tell me about it( maybe I went over board) well tonite she went out with her girlfriend and went drinking both of them. She called me and said she loved me and she misses me and such( she is in another city visiting some friends right now) but she was so drunk it made me feel hurt than happy that she was having fun. I just dont know what to do. I dont want to sound controlling but I really wish she would stop drinking and partying. We have 3 kids at a early age and its hard enough as it is. Should I leave her( I dont want to) or should I just suck it up and live with it?

I am 23 and she just turned 21 on christmas eve. Yes I know she has been drinking for a while under age.and our 3 kids are ages 3,2,1 years old. please help.

I’m 6’3 235 pounds. If me and my wife go out for dinner, me having one beer isn’t not going to get me even close to that .08 limit. Yet, there are some that say that you shouldn’t even drink one and drive. Isn’t the limit being at .08 basically saying you can drink and drive, but don’t drink too much?

After having too much to drink this guy decides to drive home from the city, his car weaving violently all over
the road, as drunk drivers are prone to do.
A cop pulls him over.
“So,” says the cop to the driver, “where have ya been?”
“Why, I’ve been to the pub of course,” slurs the drunk.
“Well,” says the cop, “it looks like you’ve had quite
a few to drink this evening.”
“I did all right,” the drunk says with a smile.
“Did you know,” says the cop, standing straight and
folding his arms across his chest,
“that a few intersections back, your wife fell out of your car?”
“Oh, thank heavens,” sighs the drunk.
“For a minute
there, I thought I’d gone deaf.

I was saved about 13 years ago and was delivered from alcoholism by Jesus Christ. I was in a bad marriage and my wife did not support me in my changes and new Christian ways of living. The stress of this made me pick up the alcohol again. How do I stop? And please dont tell me to just put it down. Anyone who is a drinker knows this is not as easy as it sounds. I would like to hear from someone who has had a similar experience, and how did you overcome it? I would like to be back to where I started with my relationship with Christ.
To clarify, I am typing this question for my husband
