I am an IT professional and speak perfect Spanish. My wife and I have fallen in love with Spain and we are now interested in moving there, at least for a few years. How could I go about finding a GOOD professional job over there? I have read that prior to moving there, we must obtain work permits from the Spanish embassy/consulate. In order to obtain a work permit, we must present a criminal record of the country we’ve lived in, which is the US. I have had 2 DUI/DWI in the past 8 years and have a few speeding tickets…. all my other records are PERFECT! No felonies either! Will I be denied a work permit based on the DUIs/DWIs on my record? Thanks.
I’m coming from the USA (DC area) I’m currently working in IT/.NET and I’ve heard there is still demand for that profession over there. I do agree the economy is not good though. I’m planning to move there within the next 2-5 years. We’ll see. I have not yet been convicted on the 2nd DUI… hopefully it will be dismissed, but don’t know yet. I’m just concerned about having these ‘stains’ on my record… I’m clean everywhere else. Perfect credit, etc. Any ideas/suggestions will be highly appreciated. Thanks!
I have dual citizenship, US and Salvadoran

My wife and I had a small party at our house the other night. I went to bed early and My wife and best friend stayed up . My wife came to bed in the wee hours of the morning completely trashed. I took care of her and got her into bed. After waking up she had a horrible feeling that something bad had happened. We drove to my “friends” house and confronted him. He confirmed that something had happened. I am completely disgusted and disappointed. My wife and I have an awesome relationship and no problems. I just dont understand how this could have happened? And now I dont know what to do.

I mean when she’s not intoxicated or getting arrested. Anyone know where a different photo of her is?
Adults only, please. If you don’t know who Don Mattingly is, then you are under 18 or you just flat-out don’t belong here in the baseball category.
Why do I want to know? Just curious. Do you post that answer to all the lame questions on Yahoo Answers?
Thanks, scoot. That’s exactly the picture I was NOT looking for. I’ve already seen it. That’s why I was asking.

A friend of mine binge drinks and insists that he is not an alcoholic because he can go without alcohol during the week. He drinks heavily until he is drunk on weekends. He never has hangover. He is 50 years old. He insists that he is only like this because he is sad (he wife left him 12 months ago). He has lost his driving licence for the second time in 10 years. I think he has to stop drinking altogether but he says he must wean himself off gradually. Will not go to AA because he does not have problem. What can I do to help him?

I filed for child support in March and my ex called CPS and made a false claim that I neglect my child. Now, I have a DWI w/child psgr. record, so I made it easier for him to do, however that was in 2003-4yrs probation/squeaky clean/etc. My family watched how distraught this made me. It took months to get cleared although the dfps website states that cases are to be closed in 30 days. Then my father died and left me everything. Omitting his ex-wife (my mother) and all siblings. My son came home from school Friday and said that CPS came to the school and interviewed him. I have not received a call or any notification of this (website states that the patent will be notified w/in 24 hrs.- today is Tuesday) I suspect that this is retaliation for the will. I would give the entire estate up to them! I care for my son-that is all. I got the letter that the 1st case was closed 1 mo. ago. That caseworker never returned calls or gave me any insight as to what to expect. Just showed up at the house, looked for food, talked to my son, and left. Nothing that I know of after that. A few interviews w/the father (cannot really believe him on the content or frequency). Then I get a closed letter! Great :). But now this! What do I do. Still no child support btw, or medical. OAG is dragging their heels on that as well. I just want to know what I can do. And if it is “get an atty”, I do not have the funds for that. So, I would need info on any assistance that I could receive.
The ex-bf not only bragged but threatened to ruin me. I got my 1st bf since we were together (5 years ago) and he has gone off the deep end. Meanwhile, he has a 1 year old with a woman that he lives with. All the while, professing love for me and then the threats start up again when I ask for boundaries. I have had an open OAG case for years. The ex-bf just changes jobs and works under the table a lot. He has also figured out that if he makes a few $50 payments every 60-90 days, they will not arrest him.
I just wonder that if enough people make the same report, and I have a past, they will take action w/out proof. They know my weak spot-my child. They know that losing him would destroy me and as I realize that many people cannot fathom a family doing that to one of their own, mine would-I have never belonged.

…things didn’t go exactly as I had planned. As you know, I’ve been having some very mild domestic quarrels with my wife. Last week, I decided to mix things up a bit and have a date with someone new. I met a very enticing black woman named Rohandra, and I immediately felt a connection(despite my racist heritage). We talked for a while while walking along the beach, but she seemed to feel very uncomfortable at times. For instance, we were riding in my car when a mainstream hip-hop song came on the radio. In order to make her feel more comfortable, I immediately started screaming “You go, girl!” while “raising the roof” with my hands. That didn’t seem to work, so I decided to have her translate some of the unfamiliar slang terms from the song for me(I just assumed that she was a mouthpiece for several different cultures of dark-skinned people).

Later on, I began talking about how Tiger Woods changed the face of gold forever, as did the Williams sisters with tennis. However, this didn’t go over very well either, especially when I whipped out my case of Old English 40 ounce beverages. She got out of the car and ran away without saying anything. I guess some people still frown upon DWI, but if people in the 50′s did it and still survived, where’s the harm?

Basically, I just want to know what I did wrong that could’ve offended her?

I find that during the year I read A Christmas Carol at Christmas time and The Great Gatsby in the summer. Though this is not officially the summer yet, I feel in May with the temperatures teasing me in the 70s and 80s, I feel previews to the summer already.
…My father gave me some advise …
“Whenever you feel like criticizing anyone,” he told me. “just remember that all the people in this world haven’t had the advantages that you’ve had.”
…In consequence, I’m inclined to reserve all judgments.
To me, The Great Gatsby is not just a good story, it is a work of art. It was written by F. Scott Fitzgerald, a man who struggled with alcoholism and personal tragedy and somehow managed to produce this great piece of writing that in some instances reflects his own struggles and unhappiness.
He grew up in the mid west. He served in World War Two and met the love of his life in the south while stationed there before going overseas. After the war, he went to New York to make his fortune. He wrote a book This Side of Paradise and became not only rich but famous. He married his sweetheart and they traveled among the rich and famous of the times. They moved to Europe and she had an affair. He was struggling to write a novel that would later become Gatsby but continued to write lesser pieces of writing to support his lifestyle hampered by a free spending upper class wife and alcoholism. She named her unborn child after him expecting a son. Instead she had a daughter and nicknamed her Scotty after the child’s father. She suffered a nervous breakdown and …
I can add more if there is any interest.
@ Jamie- that is a great list. Wow! I have read or own several of those books. Terrific books. I have seen the movie “Lolita” but never read the book. I think that Stanely Kubrick took some poetic license with adapting Lolita for the movie. Some of it was forced upon him by the censors. For instance, the daughter was underage in the book but is 18 in the movie. Actually Sue Lyon was 14 when she made the movie. Kubrick’s revenge. He is forced to make the character above legal age but then he casts a minor in the role of Lolita. Hahaha! I have seen Eyes Wide Shut too but that would not be on the 100 top list of literature.

Scott Gardner was killed by a drunk driving illegal immigrant in 2005. His wife was left severely brain-damaged, unable to walk or speak. She is now being cared for in a nursing home for the rest of here life. Their two kids who were in the car at the time of the accident, are now being raised by Scott’s parents. One moment in time, that has totally altered the lives of the Gardner family, forever.

The illegal alien drunk driver who caused all this had been arrested 5 times previous for DWI and was deported twice only to come back and cause this terrible tragedy of an American family. Why was this allowed to happen?
