There is an experience called the Kundalini that occurs when you reach a higher level of spiritual discipline, although, sometimes it occurs spontaneously. It’s an awakening of the energy that lies at the base of the spine and means snake in Sanskrit. Those that experience this awakening find the phenomena indescribable and sometimes a bit unpleasant if they aren’t adequately prepared for the experience.

The Kundalini has existed for thousands of years by other names, in other societies. In the Bible, the Kundalini is the “solar principal in man”. The Chinese, Egyptians, Tibetans, Native Americans and Greeks wrote of the experience but called it by a different name. In famous works like those of Plato, the Rosicrucian Order, the Kabala and the Masonic writings it appears but under different names.

In every individual, there is an innate ability for greatness, the ability to create supernatural phenomena. The term supernatural is a misnomer since the acts themselves are quite natural. Since few people tap into the power that they already possess, most of society views it as the extraordinary. Tapping into the power, however, is not without its dangers. For the uninitiated or those without a guide, it can create problems that affect both the physical and psychological.

The first step is to understand what the Kundalini is and how it occurs. There is a reservoir of energy coiled at the root charka at the base of the spine, much like a serpent. It is a female energy. When it releases upward, it travels to the crown charka where the Shiva, the male energy, exists and unites. Taken in smaller steps, the advanced yoga attempts to bring it down again to a lower charka but not one below the heart or it inflates the ego. He then raises and lowers the energy repeatedly to develop the area so it can remain there. This is much like bodybuilding. Since the energy creates new pathways for the nervous system, a sudden surge of the energy might create an overload and burnout. This is much like the advanced bodybuilder or weight lifter working up to a heavy lift so their muscles are prepared.

The experience of the awakening can be sudden and quite jolting or occur in smaller steps. Some describe it as a heat that forms at the base of the spine and travels upward. It also has such phenomena as pain, bright lights, intense lucidity, increased physical power, ecstasy, clairaudience, shuddering, uncontrolled movement, visions and a transcendence of ones self. Sometimes the experience is unexpected and people believe they are going mad.

The Kundalini is not without danger for the unaccompanied. Most practitioners of yoga and qigong learn to control it with guidance and practice. Uncontrolled unleashing of the power can result in many things, which include insanity and death. Using the weightlifter as an example, without training to exercise and build the muscles, lifting extreme amounts of weight can shred the muscles to a point of uselessness. The surge of power from Kundalini in an uncontrolled manner has the ability to shred the nervous system because its not developed enough for the increased load. The novice must beware of the snake that sits at the base of the tree of knowledge. While it’s as natural as lifting heavy weight, it requires training and guidance for success.

Headaches are one of the greatest productivity killers. When you’re trying to get something done and a headache comes on, it’s game over. Even if you try to make it through, you’re not going to be nearly as productive and you’re likely going to be more miserable than ever. While it’s no fun, there are some natural and simple methods to cure your headache!

The Quick and Natural Way to Cure Headaches

The idea behind relieving a headache is to do it naturally and quickly. There are plenty of over-the-counter medications, but they have their own side effects that just create a new problem. If taken too frequently, headache medicines may even lose their effectiveness.

Here are some natural headache remedies that you can use to quickly eliminate that headache:

• If you’re at home, take a warm bath. Many headaches are caused by contracted muscles and a hot bath will relax those muscles. This is especially great for tension headaches.

• If it is a stress headache, exercising can relieve it. Taking a walk to increase blood circulation can help dramatically.

• If the headache is caused by dehydration, drinking water can help, but it may take several glasses until the problem is solved.

• Massaging the shoulders and neck can relieve a tension headache. This is because the tightened muscles causing the headache are loosened.

• For a caffeine, sinus, or allergy headache, a cold or hot compress can make the headache go away.

• Try to sleep the same hours every night. Too little or too much sleep can cause headaches. You also want to try to keep a consistent bedtime.

• Try not to sit, stand, or work in the same position for long periods of time. This can put strain on your back, shoulders, and neck. This strain can lead to a tension headache, so change position frequently to keep this from occurring.

• If bright lights make your head hurt, avoid them. If you already have a headache, try to sit in a room with minimal light. People with migraines tend to benefit from this technique.

• Reduce your intake of caffeine in order to avoid caffeine headaches. This can be one of the worst types of headaches. Unfortunately, there are many people who attempt to solve this headache by taking in more caffeine. The problem is that this type of headache tends to be caused by caffeine withdrawal, so it’s a catch 22.

• Avoid foods that trigger headaches. If you notice a pattern that your head hurts after eating a certain food, that is your sign to avoid it. Try eating organic fruits and vegetables because of their nutritional value and health benefits.

Since everyone is different, different remedies will work for different people. You may need to experiment to find out which one is going to work best for you. Once you find your remedy, stick to it.

How to Prevent Headaches

You can prevent headaches by controlling your stress levels, exercising, and eating balanced meals. All of these go hand-in-hand because stress can be relieved by exercising and eating healthy foods. It may require a lifestyle change, but you’ll not only feel better but you’ll relieve the majority of your headaches!

By implementing these changes and eliminating your headaches, you’ll boost your quality of life and get more done.

To keep the mind active throughout the life time requires lots of effort. What we generally refer to memory is actually many different processes occur in the brain. There are two types of memory, one is referred as short term and other is long term memory. These are fundamentally distinctive interactive processes.

Only some percentage of short term memory is getting converted into the long term memory storage. When the event stores into the long term memory storage, the brain synthesizes the protein for axon and dendrite pathways after taking decision that whether the event is important enough to store? The hippocampus, cortex and frontal lobes are actively involved in the storage, retention and revival of the facts.

A key to building memory power that can lat long is to be able to relate the new fact with the old one. We can keep the memories working and active. Just imagine a situation that you are in the meeting and you are the only one to see the vision for the company and you can get the boost with it.

There are numerous methods that can be applied to keep memory active. A bored mind can be jolted to the activities with becoming more and more curious about the things. This can give an edge and will boost the confidence where others can refuse to trade. You can be there and will be able to talk with the edge it gives.

Another good method is to use mnemonics and memory aids.
You should make habit to remember particular things with their short form s or converting them into some meaningful thoughts. This will help you when you have to remember the large amount of information. At the end, you can have many letters that you can format into tone particular string that can be remembered. And can be easy to recall. You can just remember the letters in your mind and you can immediately recall whole information. When you want to concentrate hard just think about your happy times in past, the clothes you really like, best thing you have ever done and there will smile on your face with the confidence and this confidence will help you to get the concentration.

Numerous emotions whether they are happy or sad will help you to remember the scenes in the memory. The conscious emotions always help to remember the things greatly. Remember your happy times and keep the sharp mental pictures of it. At the times of recall just go back to that state of mind where you stored the pictures. To remember long list of things in memory, this is a good method, especially when you are going for shopping.

Arrange the things in craziest method and arrange them like fish, boat, key etc. Now, imagine a picture that you went in between the sea and open the whale with the key in your hand. Even though this is crazy but it will help you to remember the things related to boat, whale and key. Try this right now and you will surely remember the things related to it.

Meditations
In the normal work-a-day bustle, the mind is not able to find and maintain a state of repose. It is constantly kept in a stimulated state by external influences and internal cogitations, and only gets to rest at night—and even then not always fully. The reposed mind is more receptive to influences that are able to bring attention to new perspectives, fresh ideas and inspired solutions to problems. For this reason, it is rather refreshing to spend a little time each day allowing the mind to fall into a condition of stillness. From this deeply relaxed state, attention can be gently drawn towards questions that are of interest.

No: Concentration
Disciplines of body and mind. Allowing no body movement, holding a very defined subject in mind and, by exercise of will, keeping it in focus for a sustained period. Gazing at an object for some time without blinking.

Hello: Communion
Being with a particular object, for example, fire, water, wine, food, work etc. Tracing connection on 3 levels: down, across and up to expand awareness of its relationship within the whole picture. Find equivalence within a) yourself b) your outer life events c) society. Also study of scripture.

Thanks: Heart-centring
Softening the feelings to enjoy love, beauty and music. Expand the heart to feel well being, compassion, harmony with all people, all beings. Be innocent without goals or beliefs. Walking in nature, smelling flowers.

Goodbye: Movement
Integration of mind, heart and body. Awareness exercises that require exact timing and precise control such as Gurdjieff’s movements. Seeing what you’re doing in every part in every moment. Awakening of life in the body. Sufi practice of Zikr.

Please: Prayer
Whilst maintaining a meditative state of being, project desire into a well-formulated specific intention for the future. Invoke cooperative support of a particular non-physical being such as the archangels, Christ or a Buddha. Use of mantra. Also priestly ceremony, rituals etc.

Sorry: Purification
Simple breathing. Detached observation of the outer circumstance of life. ‘Is that so?’ Expanded awareness of the interconnectedness of desire and its implications—how wanting is a creative force for which one takes karmic responsibility. Owning all perceptions, softening the ties one by one. Forgiveness, Indifference, Release. God’s will be done.

Yes: Transcendence
Cosmic Consciousness. Thinking as the Universe thinks. Subject –object disappears. Dissolving into Unity. Sacred Darkness. Sanyassin. Being a ‘Fool for God’. Lost in the Eternal.

It may seem intuitive that our mind’s activity would affect our brain’s biology, but now new research is supporting that assumption. It reveals that meditation and other techniques affect brain fitness at the level of your genes—turning genes on or off that are associated with free radicals, inflammation, and cell aging, which affect cell and tissue damage. They have also been shown to affect our body’s “fight or flight” response to stressors.

In fact, according to an article by Michelle Andrews in the May 4, 2009 issue of the Baltimore Sun (“How to beat stress and angst through meditation”), one study on individuals who were meditation novices showed changes in brain and behavior after two weeks of daily 30-minute meditation sessions.

While it can’t eliminate all of your problems, Richard Davidson, director of the Waisman Laboratory for Brain Imaging and Behavior at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, says, “It can transform the emotional brain in ways that promote higher levels of resilience (and) less vulnerability and affect the body in ways that can improve health.”

There are many different kinds of meditation, and many places and people available to train you in meditation. But here is a simple one from Principles of Brain Management by Ilchi Lee that you can try right now:

Sit comfortably, making your back as straight as you can. Relax your body completely. At first, just focus on the rhythm of your breath in your chest; just relax and follow your natural pattern. (You can also do this lying on your back.)
Focus on each part of the body, letting go of all tension in that area. With every exhalation, try to release more and more tension from your body. Thoroughly release all tension from your face, shoulders, arms, back, abdomen, and feet.
When your chest relaxes, gently begin to breathe more deeply into the abdomen, until you feel increased warmth there.
Notice any emotions or thoughts that you have. Visualize them as part of the tension in your body. You may see it as a dark cloud within you.
As you breathe in, imagine that a bright light is piercing through that darkness, the way sunlight cuts through a cloud.
As you exhale, toxic vapors from the clouds are expelled from your body.
Smile gently with each exhalation, allowing the light to overcome the darkness. Continue until all of the darkness has evaporated from your body and mind.

How do you feel now? Keeping this feeling requires consistent practice. As Davidson says, “This is mental exercise. If one wants (benefits) to continue, you have to continue.” So try and practice this every day for long-term results.

When we hire an event planner and a disc jockey for our daughters sweet sixteen birthday party we don’t usually care about where our hard earned cash ends up. However, when we’re contemplating a course in meditation, we’ll somehow it seems a little different. It’s those purchases that are a more abstract that we sometimes question. You know, like health insurance and taxes. So where does the money go after we fork over the cost of a course in the Transcendental Meditation® technique? After all, inquiring minds want to know, right?

Bang For the Buck–First, it’s good to know that the course fee (currently $1500 for adults and $750 for students) includes approximately 10 hours of personal instruction and a lifetime of follow up classes, anywhere in the U.S. (including Hawaii). I mean, a college course is expensive too, but there’s no personal instruction and a lifetime opportunity to audit that course at dozens of locations around the country. So Transcendental Meditation offers a package deal that’s something pretty special.

NonProfit–The organization that teaches the Transcendental Meditation technique is called Maharishi Vedic Education Development Corporation (MVED). It is recognized by the IRS as a 501(c)(3) non-profit, educational entity. Its mission is to provide the technique of Transcendental Meditation to millions of people so that they may reap the scientifically validated benefits of health, happiness, prosperity and inner peace.

Scholarships–The organization offers financial aid just like other educational institutions. They facilitate, long term, low interest, student loans as well as full and partial scholarships for qualifying students, families etc. As much as 35% of all MVED revenues are used to provide scholarships for Transcendental Meditation courses, for those that could not otherwise afford it. The organization also works closely with a number of charitable foundations that provide full and partial scholarships to students and at-risk youth. Over the past two years more than 50,000 students in schools across the United States, Latin America and Africa have learned the Transcendental Meditation technique through this program.

Salaries–For more than a decade I was an employee of MVED Corporation and worked as a financial manager and regional director. As such, I can verify that the salaries that the organization paid were modest and below the national average for comparable work. As an administrator in a leadership role I received almost the same salary as many entry level employees. I had frequent interactions with senior members of the organization many of whom, worked full time, on a volunteer basis and received no compensation whatsoever.

Maharishi—The founder of the technique, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, worked tirelessly, twelve to fifteen hours per day for more than 50 years. His only focus, day and night, was to create an organization that could provide the benefits of his meditation technique to millions of people around the world. When he first began teaching in the 1950’s he relied only on donations. However, as the organization grew and buildings were needed to establish Transcendental Meditation centers and a permanent organizational structure, standardized course fees came into existence. As for Maharishi himself, he was a monk with no possessions. He never owned a car, a house, a plane or a building at anytime in his life. He lived only for the good of all people and never thought of himself.

So when you pay your course fee for Transcendental Meditation you can rest assured that your hard earned money is going to good use. You are receiving a technique and follow up classes that will provide life long benefits and you will sleep well at night knowing that through your course fee others will also have the opportunity to benefit.

Chances are you haven’t heard of the term iDozer. This is a new form of recreation being referred to as a digital drug. With the health revolution in full tilt, it’s not surprising to see such a trend in recreational drug use.

The Digital Drug Age has been born through the efforts of binaural beat creators; and for the health conscious, the medieval days of using traditional harmful drugs and alcohol to relax are now gone. iDozers are certainly gaining popularity amongst the masses but, some are confused as to where these iDozers can be downloaded .

Are you always the odd person out during social gatherings because you simply don’t like the taste of alcohol. Let’s face it, alcohol is really not that tasty or appealing and is generally regarded as an acquired taste. Why subject yourself to that burning sensation down your throat when all you have to do is put on some headphone for a few minutes and you will be as loose as a goose without having anything to drink at all. Do your friends like to partake in recreational drug use but, your work situation won’t allow you to indulge. iDozer MP3s are are great alternative to getting “high” with you friends without compromising your own health. So, grab for the headphones instead of that cocktail, or beer or other mind altering substance.

Binaural Beat MP3s are the exact recordings termed iDozers.

Binaural Beat Therapy was originally created to bring upon positive behaviors in a person who was struggling with addiction, weight loss or even anxiety Relaxation plays a key role in helping those with addiction problems by weening the addict off of their drugs by mimicking that feeling of getting high without the physiologically habit forming compounds found in many of today’s street drugs.
With Digital Drugs, iDozers, you will have the freedom to get “high” whenever you want and wherever you want. We all have our vices for relaxation. Passing drug screenings will be a thing of the past with iDozer MP3 Binaural Beats. iDozers can bring about a sense of Self-Confidence that is a great feeling to have throughout the day.

Confidence is usually lacking in most of us and and can especially drop during social engagements. This lack of confidence can limit our ability to make friends and keep them. Many of us can’t even imagine attending a party without first being under the influence of drugs or alcohol. To this end, I say, I am certainly not someone who should judge iDozers or Digital Drugs are the perfect way to achieve that “high” or “buzz” without dipping into the alcohol or pill stash. Say goodbye to the old ways of having fun and say hello to Digital Drugs.

As with most new forms of recreation, the youth have already caught onto this phenomenon. Young professional are starting to appreciate the benefits of Digital Drugs or iDozers and becoming the choice drug amongst young professionals. iDozer or Binaural Beat Therapy is the latest trend in recreational drug use. The sounds created in these recordings induce a state of euphoria similar to those of traditional street drugs while keeping your body safe from harmful carcinogens. The iDozer works by bringing your theta brain waves to a resting state thus creating an environment within your mind that reflects the feeling of being “high”. Getting “high” is only a few clicks away.

All you will need is the iDozer MP3 file, an MP3 player and headphones to achieve this state of bliss. You deserve to unwind after a long, hard day at work. You’re only a few clicks away from making this a reality. There are many who are concerned about the effect that Digital Drugs will have on our youth and therefore are attempting to ban or suppress the distribution of iDozers. By putting a negative spin on iDozer MP3s or Digital Drugs, those concerned will only create more curiosity in the public realm and the inevitable acceptance of Digital Drugs will be achieved.

There are no side effects to listening to iDozers and therefore, the government is fearful that Digital Drugs will become TOO appealing to our youth and destroy the foundation of our future. On the flip side, when used responsibly, iDozer MP3s can prevent people from participating in dangerous and illicit activities that often surround the street drug culture. You’re only a few click away to live happy, live healthy and get high! Only until recently have iDozers hit the mainstream with the advent of the internet serving as its facilitator. The only reason that iDozers or Binarual Beat Therapies have remained relatively undiscovered is due to the lack of awareness and suppression efforts of those opposed to the benefits of these iDozer MP3s or Digital Drugs.

Say no to drugs and say yes to iDozer MP3s!

There has been a lot of hype in the weight loss news concerning green tea. Green tea’s weight loss effects have caused more and more people to drink this ancient Japanese herbal brew.

But the question is, how does green tea help you lose weight? Does it really work or is it all just hearsay? Here are some interesting facts about drinking green tea to lose weight.

Advantages of Green Tea for Weight Loss

1. Green tea boosts your metabolism – Researchers reported to the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition that green tea extract resulted in a dramatic increase in energy expenditure (metabolism boost). They have also concluded that over a 24 hour period, green tea extract increases the body’s metabolic rate by 4%. These effects might have been due to the high concentrations of catechin polyphenols found in green tea. These substances work to help increase and intensify levels of fat oxidation and thermogenesis (rate at which your body burns calories and excess fat).

2. Green tea reduces fat absorption and helps glucose regulation – Experts suggest that the substances in green tea called catechins help reduce the movement of glucose into fat cells. Green tea also acts as a glucose regulator. It helps regulate the rise in blood sugar after a meal. This prevents high insulin spikes and subsequent fat storage.

3. Green tea reduces cravings and appetites – Scientists found that the green tea caused rats to lose up to 21 percent of their body weight. Rats injected with the green tea extract lost their appetites and only consumed up to 60 percent less food after a week of daily injections. This may have resulted with the blood sugar regulating effects of green tea.

4. Green tea helps you save calories on your morning cup of brew – We are a culture of people hooked up on caffeine to give us that morning rush of energy that we need to start off our day. Try substituting green tea for coffee if you want to save off calories in the morning but still want to get that fix of caffeine.

But how much do you have to actually drink to get these metabolism boosting effects?

Experts have a lot of different answers but the main consensus is 3 to 5 cups of green tea daily is the ideal and optimal intake. Drinking green tea daily can help you burn an extra 70 calories per day which would amount to 7 pounds in a year, which is good for cutting calories and not exercising right?
However, 3-5 cups may be a lot for some people, so others consider green tea extract, green tea patch and/or green tea pills.

Bottom line

Green tea helps you with your weight loss by increasing and boosting your body’s metabolic rate, blood sugar regulation, suppresses your appetite and giving you something else besides high sugar coffee beverage with high calories that you are drinking in the morning. While it’s not exactly that magic bullet of weight loss, it can give you the boost in weight loss and your overall health.

Stephen Cauldry is a health and fitness writer and researcher. He currently writes about the different alternate weight loss products like green tea extract and green tea benefits among other else. He also writes about different alternative cosmetics such as eye cream and other anti aging cosmetics.

Also, one should be confident and focused to lose weight.Basically, overweight and obesity occurs due to the accumulation of excess of adipose tissue, this accumulation may occur due to the over consumption of fats and carbohydrates. People who consume more and more food without doing any exercise, gain excess weight. This excess weight may lead to many diseases in the future and also in the present. It leads to many cardiac diseases like cardiac arrest, heart attacks etc. We know that eating healthy food is very important, but eating too much of food is not acceptable as our body won’t accept it .So eating should be done in accordance with the usage of food by the body people who just go on and on consuming the food , but do no exercise will obviously gain weight . So this practice should be avoided , people should eat only that much amount of food which their body can use to perform several functions of the body and also some external functions as well . Let us take for instant the example of people who stay in villages and the people who stay in metropolitan cities, the people who stay in villages do more of physical exercise then the people who stay in the cities as they go to the fields and use energy, so whatever they eat is consumed by their body. Whereas in the case of the people who live in the cities, do not go to fields but they go to offices where most of the work is done on the computer itself. Therefore no energy is consumed in doing the work. Hence people living in the cities tend to gain more weight than the people living in the villages. Are you on a quest to stop stuttering? Have you a goal to achieve fluency? Do you dream of being able to talk free from the constant fear of stuttering? These are all questions that I most certainly would have answered yes to up until the age of twenty-two. I started to stutter at the age of four and the speech impediment continued to have a damaging affect on my life for the next eighteen years.

Thirteen years ago when I was aged twenty-two I successfully managed to “stop stuttering” after developing a set of techniques to overcome the problem. When formulating these techniques I was learning and studying how the people that I considered to the “best talkers” spoke in comparison to the way that I did. I was more than aware that I had a “faulty speech” and I wanted to work out where the faults were. In the end I was actually quite surpised just how many aspects of my speech were faulty including of course how I was breathing.

This was all thirteen years ago and I am now more than enjoying the fruits of all of that hard work. The freedom of fluency is one that was worth the wait and one that was most certainly worth all of the hard work that I put in.

I am hoping that this article can prove to be of inspiration to other people who have a stutter. You should not accept second best, believe in yourself and believe in a better life for yourself.

When I was young I discovered a chrysalis hanging from a branch in some scrub oak near our house. Each day after this discovery I would go out and check on this chrysalis in the hopes of seeing the butterfly that I knew was inside. You can imagine how excited I was when one day I came out to find the head of this butterfly sticking out from a hole in the bottom of the cocoon!

I stood fascinated by the whole process, but wait… something was wrong. The butterfly seemed to struggle and not be getting anywhere. I decided to help. Very carefully I began to pull the silk from around the butterfly until I had a hole big enough to tear the cocoon open. With a “plop” the butterfly hit the ground. It wasn’t the magnificent flying creature I had envisioned. Its wings were rolled up tight and it eventually died. I couldn’t believe what had just happened. Instead of being a witness to the wonder of the butterfly’s flight, I was the cause of its death.

Had I known then what I know now about compassionate detachment, that butterfly would have lived to fulfill its life’s mission. I learned much later in life that the struggle I had witnessed was actually necessary for the butterfly to live. The effort to get out of the cocoon causes fluid to be pumped into the wings and without that fluid the butterfly can’t unroll. By stepping in and interfering with this process I didn’t allow the butterfly to develop according to its nature. I prevented the struggle that was necessary to make it strong.

Compassionate detachment simply means we are not attached physically, spiritually, mentally and especially emotionally to the events, things, and people in our lives that we have compassion for. This does not mean we don’t care – because compassion is caring. It means we are not attached in a way that fails to serve the highest good of all.

What exactly is the highest good? The truth is that most of the time we just don’t know. Unfortunately, that doesn’t stop us from trying to insert our wisdom and sometimes even insisting that people take our advice. However well intentioned I was when I was younger, I didn’t know what was for the highest good of the butterfly and my interference and insistence cost that creature its life.

If it was difficult to watch the struggle of a butterfly, how difficult must it be to watch the struggle of a loved one?

What if it is your child? Suppose a child was born into a loving, yet very over-protective family. The parents, in their idea of love declared, “Our child will be protected from all of the evils of life. Kids will never make fun of him or tease him because we will never allow him out of the house. He will stay here where he is loved and protected. He will never have to be subjected to germs and pollutants nor will anything harmful every come into contact with him.”

The mother would cook every meal for him throughout the rest of his life. He will never have to cook and risk being burned by a hot stove. The father said, “He will never have to work because he could be injured on the job and we would never want to see our child hurt.” They agreed that since he would never have to work he would never have to go to school. “Why should we subject him to cruel and unkind people? Why should he have to exert all that effort to learn anyway? Plus the history books are full of stories of war, famine, slavery and other atrocities. It is better that he not have to hear such negative things.”

They also agreed that he should never date or marry because how easy would it be for a girl to break his heart? “It is better to just keep him here with us where he is loved and protected,” they said. They told him, “Don’t run, don’t jump, don’t climb on things and stay out of all the rooms where there are dangerous things because we love you and don’t want to see you get hurt. It’s for your own good.” …Okay, by now you are probably saying, “I get the point!” I give you this extreme and hypothetical situation to overstate that not all struggle or pain is bad.

There is a fine line between aiding someone – and carrying them in a way that robs them of the life lessons needed to make them strong and help them become capable of carrying out their life’s mission. Each person comes into this world with his own load, for which he and he alone is responsible. Anyone who attempts to carry another’s load (or shirk his own) is not serving anyone’s highest good. In fact, that is a disservice and could stunt or prevent the growth necessary to carry them through their lie’s mission. Sometimes you have to love a person enough to let go. Let them learn their lessons.

When you let go of someone by being compassionately detached, you don’t let go so they fall. You let go so they can fly!

Have you ever “decided” you were going to go the gym three times per week, or that you were going to lose 10 pounds before Summer, or that you would stop smoking in 30 days? I know I did. I lost count of how many times I “decided” I would go to the gym three times per week, among many other things I decided to do.

So why don’t we follow through? I mean, we know it’s good for us, we know we need to do it, we know we will feel better (after losing 10 pounds or going to the gym or whatever we decided to do), but we still don’t do it. Why?
I recently learned an easy way to follow through on anything I decide to do, and it’s been working like magic.

In fact it’s so simple that when I learned it I laughed at it. But here I am months later, exercising every day, doing my speed-reading exercises every day, reading books every day. And there is no way I’m going to skip a day, because once you do something every day for about 30 days, it becomes a habit that is very hard to break. And this is where you want to get.

So how do we get there?
The secret lies in how you set up your goal. It has to be very easy to do, and preferably short.

If I say to myself, I’m going to go to the gym three times a week, it implies I have to drive there, find a parking spot when it’s usually full, exercise for an hour, then drive back home… My mind says: “That’s a lot of work, that’s too much hassle” and you find a million other things you can do instead.
So instead, I decided to work out 5 minutes every day. That’s something so simple anybody can do it! I made it a routine to work out just 5 minutes every morning. I started with simple exercises and slowly added light weights, then a little heavier weights. Then after a couple of weeks, I was working out for 10 minutes, then for 15 minutes. A few months later, I am working out every day, I feel much better, and I look a lot better too!

When I decided I wanted to learn to read faster, I found a software program that only takes 7 minutes a day, and you can see your progress very quickly. I got hooked! See, 7 minutes is easy.

Set your goal in a way that looks and feels easy. Break it down into smaller goals, and several things will happen: first, once you accomplish the first small goal, you feel encouraged to go for the next one. Success builds on success. Then you go to the following one, and so on. And you are creating a habit of a successful person. Then the next goal will be a lot easier to achieve. Before you know it, you will be the successful person you deserve to become.

The composer lay down his baton at the conclusion of what he believed would be his last performance. At 56, he’d already suffered a stroke which temporarily paralyzed his right arm. His life had been marked by an endless string of financial failures from which even his formidable talent had been unable to rescue him. In 1741, in England, that usually meant confinement to debtors’ prison.

But then, two seemingly small events converged which would change his life. He received a libretto from a friend based on the life of Christ, and a commission from a charity to compose music for a benefit performance. He worked feverishly, hardly eating or sleeping but rapturously lost in a creative ecstasy, known only to masters such as himself. In only three weeks, his masterpiece was complete. His name—George Frideric Handel. The masterpiece—his celebrated oratorio Messiah, a triumph of musical genius that still enjoys a place of honor amongst Christmas and Easter performances over 250 years later. The house in London where he composed the work is now a museum dedicated to him. And ironically, the first charity performances of Messiah provided funds for dozens of people to be released from debtors’ prison.

History is replete with the triumphs of men and women that were preceded by what appeared to be their darkest hour. I have often wondered why the adversary tries so hard to discourage us in our righteous endeavors. Surely he must know that God’s power is monumentally greater than his. Surely he knows he cannot succeed. Or does he?

No, the adversary actually does not know the big picture. He believes that our darkest hours really can be our end result, not a temporary darkness that precedes a breaking dawn of hope and success. Only God knows what great blessings are in store for us. Only He sees the richest blessings yet hidden from our view. His plans cannot be thwarted, but He needs us to trust Him and know that all will be well, that, as a well-known hymn says, morning will break and the shadows will flee.

Let’s start with a challenge:

See if you relate to any of the following statements. I want you to be honest with yourself. Each answer is a simple yes or no in your head.

-You are content with your life but realize that you have the potential to achieve more.

-You work hard, but you are not living the ideal life you always envisaged.

-You work hard, and yet, your family is not getting the best of you.

-You spend many days of the week frustrated with yourself.

-Bluntly speaking, there could be more to your life than the one you are currently living.

-You have realized it is time to play a smarter game.

-You understand that it is insane to keep on doing the same things and expect a different result.

-You are willing to do whatever it takes to win the game of your life.

If your answer is yes to most of my statements, I want to tell you that you are not alone. Many people feel this way. Most people feel like they are giving it their best, but the results are not showing it. Would you like to turn your life from a state of emergency to a state of euphoria and success? A state of happiness and fulfillment?

IF you say yes, then let me ask you, who are you expecting to change your situation? It’s time to make a smart move. It is time for you to take control!!

Successful people in all fields have acquired and mastered a vital Secret Weapon- taking control of their lives. They don’t just do this during the good times; they take control all the time. If something good happens in their life, they know it is because of their direct efforts and actions. In contrast, if things don’t go as planned, they know that the finger points only at them. Mastering this weapon means that there is no pointing the finger at anyone but the person in control. And that person is you. Most people are quick to mention their contribution should something go according to plan, yet they are the first to point fingers when things go wrong. You will notice that these people are far from successful. Successful people take ownership of the decisions they make, the good and the bad.

Remember that no one will ever want success more for you than you. To think otherwise is delusional. I see people living life thinking their family, friends, or strangers will someday give them what they want in life. You have a better chance of winning the lottery.

You are the only person who can control things in your life. If things are not going according to plan, then something needs to change. For things to change, you must change. For your results to change, you must change what you are doing or how you are doing it. Ultimately, though, making a change is in your control.

Will it come at a price? Absolutely.

But that is not the question you should be asking. The question is, what price are you currently paying for not taking control? Compare this with the price you must pay to take control and have the life of your dreams. Either way, you will pay the price. You might as well choose to pay the right price and live the life you deserve. Take control.

If you were to think of Life as a video game, who is it that holds the controller when playing a game?

You.

You are in complete control of your life. Sure, there are challenges flying your way, but only you are in control of your manoeuvring. You can go back, forward, up, down, or sideways. You can jump, stand still, or roll over. If you don’t like where you are in the game, then you move forward. If you stand still whilst in combat mode, you will be killed. You are in charge of defending yourself and moving ahead in the game. The end will not come to you. You must get to the end. You will get scared, you will get hit, and you will get defeated on occasion, but you will survive and move forward. You are the person in control.

Taking control applies to every aspect of your life. Here are a few situations where many don’t practice taking control. See if any apply to you.

-You wake up in the morning and, just as you decide to have a good day, you check the mailbox. Whaaam! There are five bills to pay, two of which are unexpected and rather large. You spend the rest of the day depressed.

-You have a business appointment with a client who has agreed to make a purchase. An hour before your meeting, you get a call from your client informing you that he or she no longer will proceed with the purchase. You spend the rest of the day resentful.

-You are on your way home, and the person in front of you cuts you off. You get angry and let out a few words that come from the school of frustration. You spend the rest of the day fuming.

There are two types of people in this world—those who are controlled by their environment and those who control their environment. In the second group are the successful people. Successful people know how to take control of their environment, never letting others dictate what they do or, more importantly, how they feel.

Which of the two types are you?

Does your environment control you? Or do you control your environment?

Could you choose not to let things affect you? Most people live life in reaction to the events and circumstances that surround them. People let their environment or circumstances dictate what they do, when and where they do what they do, and how they think, feel, and act. Why?

Rather than reacting, look at living a life based on your desires and requirements. Act based upon the focus of what you want in order to achieve it. People who are distracted by everything happening in their surroundings do not excel because they are so caught up with insignificant events. Many people behave in a reactive way to changes that occur in their life. They spend countless hours, days, weeks, even years dwelling on past events. Their time and energy is spent. When people are driving on the highway, it is as if most of them spend more time focusing on the bugs hitting their windshield than the road they are travelling on.

Incidents happen all the time. Think of them as the bugs that hit your windshield. The key is to simply take control of the wheel and look beyond the bugs to the road ahead, as you focus on getting to your destination. That doesn’t mean that you deny the fact that things can happen, and oh yes, things will happen. Work on being in complete control as you come across challenging circumstances in life. It may be daunting at first, just like taking your first baby steps, but have you thought about walking lately? Very quickly, new skills become natural.

Are you just going to linger long enough, in the hope that something miraculous will happen in your life? Or will you actively do something about your life?

The game of life must be played one way and one way only—on the offense. You must always be one step ahead of the game if you want to win. If you are going to play on the defense, you will end up watching things happen. Successful people always make their moves and preempt the surrounding moves of other people and of circumstances. Playing defense will never get you the results you want. Play the game on the offense and account for your surrounding moves in advance. Again, this will come with practice. The more you do this, the easier it will become. If you truly learn to take control, you will be the first to forgive in a situation. You will be the first to admit your
mistakes. You will be the first to make a move on a sale or sign a business deal. You will be the first to show kindness. You will create the energy and motion for others to follow.

Wouldn’t the world be a better place when more people start to take control?

When did you take the time to notice how much your immediate environment impacts upon your sense of well-being? Most of us are too busy these days to notice the things which are vitally important to our equilibrium. And so it is no wonder that so many people suffer from stress and anxiety, and lack a feeling of balance and groundedness. We do things on a “need to do” basis and yet do not consider what should be our most basic needs.

We do not, after all, live in a “vacuum”. We are constantly affected by a steady stream of sensory input. We see, hear, smell, taste and feel our way through life, and our minds are so quick and bright that they make sense of this input in a fraction of a second. Without realizing it our energy levels are affected by every tiny little bit of this sensory perception. Each sound vibrates with its own frequency of energy, and we receive energy signals from all around us.

If you spend a lot of time in a hectic or negative environment you will be picking up on this energy and will eventual adjust to resonate with it. It is not surprising that it becomes easy to feel “out of sync” or “out of kilter”. Your own energy is in effect being pushed off balance, away from your norm, away from a feeling of equilibrium. You can feel like a small sailing boat being buffeted by a storm. The choices one has when caught in a storm are limited; you could take the sail down and ride the storm out, or perhaps your boat has a powerful engine which can take you safely back to shore, or perhaps you no longer have the presence of mind to think straight and thus leave your sails up…

Everyone needs balance and internally craves to be in a place where they can feel comfortable and grounded. Yes, we need to step outside our comfort zones in order to grow and develop. But was also need to be able to return to a feeling of peace and tranquility. Our energy needs to be replenished from time to time, and an easy way in which to do this is to take a walk in beautiful surroundings, in the fresh air, amongst growing plants, flowers and trees. The energy from these natural growing and flourishing leaves and petals will reach out to you and you will instinctively resonate with it. And it’s not only the energy from the plants that you will benefit from, it’s the quality of natural light from being outside, the feeling of sunlight on your skin, the peaceful way in which water moves to and fro. All of this has an inevitable power to relax and relieve your stresses and strains.

The simple fact is that the things which are natural in our environment have the power to recharge our energy and revive us. Things which are unnatural can never quite imitate this natural reaction. If you are feeling “out of sorts” you can try a simple thing – go for a walk, somewhere in the countryside if at all possible, and intentionally notice everything around you. Take each of your senses in turn and notice what comes into your awareness. Really notice every moment – be “in the now”. In doing this you are achieving more than you may think was possible. Firstly, you are directing your focus upon nature and in doing so you will feel greater impact from the energy this provides. And secondly, as your attention is absorbed “in the now” you are effectively distracting yourself from worries, tensions or fears.

It may take some effort on your part to keep your attention focused in the now, but you will get better with practice. You can also obtain hypnosis downloads which will speed up this process and make it more and more automatic for you. Another benefit of hypnosis downloads is that you can mentally “go for a walk” when you are unable to do so in physical reality. Hypnosis is a state which allows greater ability to imagine things and you can visualize a perfect natural landscape and in effect create a “mental holiday” for yourself. Hypnosis is a state of relaxation and allows you to take a step back, enabling you to get back “in sync” and bring balance back into your life.

In the Indian tradition way it is customary to welcome a guest into our home with kindness and generosity by offering the best that we have. In some homes there may not be much – a little coffee, some fry bread — but whatever we have we offer it to our guests in a good way with a good heart.

This is more than just a simple courtesy. We do this to make the person feel welcome and comfortable. This creates a good/positive feeling in the visitor and is our way of blessing that person. Then when that person leaves, he or she carries this positive energy in their hearts and minds. They bless us with this energy. Perhaps they will speak of their visit with someone and say kind words, leaving this person with positive thoughts about us.

Energy that is related to our intentions, creates. And positive energy creates positive things. We can now charge this energy with our intentions and create for our homes, our family, for balance, good health and well-being.

Both parties, the host and the guest, receive a blessing because both are giving and receiving through this perfect circle in a sacred manner. The host gives his best in a good way and receives a blessing in the form of good thoughts and possibly good words from the guest. The guest receives from the host then gives his blessing through positive thoughts and energy, completing the sacred circle.

When done with a good heart this simple exchange can produce a wealth of gifts for all involved. This is not just limited to our homes. This exchange can take place between people anywhere, at any time. Giving our best isn’t limited to treats from our cupboards. We can give our best through a warm handshake and kind words.

I always think of the saying, “Be careful how you treat a stranger lest you entertain an angel.” Since all people come from God, should we not view them as such?

Each time you do this you not only bless that person, you open yourself up to a blessing as well. You get what you give. Each encounter is an opportunity for a blessing… and who can’t use more of this in their life?

Give your best and be blessed!

Domestic abuse victims heal and transform themselves at different rates. You can tell when their recovery process remains in progress, yet to be completed. And if you are a domestic violence survivor, you know when you’re still wearing that “I’m a Victim” hat.

Here are some tell-tale signs that you are still fulfilling the role of victimization. If you catch yourself…

1) Looking for free lunch

2) Seeking to please other people for approval

3) Believing your actions “caused” another person’s response

4) Assuming you are where you are, entirely because of the deeds of others

5) Expecting to uncover your own inner truth through another person’s truth

Now please take a deep breath and re-read these five tell-tale signs again. This time see them as a whole. Take your time to find the underlying commonality in these five signs.

…Do you see that they are all related? These five tell-tale signs in combination—that is, as a cluster—reveal victimization just as the five red flags of intimate partner abuse in combination define the syndrome intimate partner violence.

Domestic abuse victimization, once established, doesn’t wash away in the shower, nor do most people leave it behind themselves when they leave their batterer. Healing victimization is a progression of transformations that dismantle the pattern revealed in the five tell-tales signs of wearing the “I’m a Victim” hat.

Now don’t get me wrong here. I’m not implying that you are responsible for your abusive partner’s battering behavior toward you. This is not about blame. It’s about insight, ownership, responsibility, understanding and transformation.

Literally, the definition of encourage is to put heart into. All of us need encouragement. Encouragement could have a great effect and powerful impact on co-workers and bosses. When this definition is applied to our situations in work, it may suggest:1.) Increasing morale by offering support to others in the office and expressing approval. 2.) Giving team members a vote of trust and confidence. 3.) Stimulating collaboration and cooperation between departments, work units and the company as a whole. 4.) Lifting people up and moving them to do those things they need to do to accomplish career and company objectives.

5.) Inspiring, stirring and motivating co-workers and superiors with courage, confidence and hope. 6.) Empowering direct reports and peers to reach their maximum potential and grow professionally. It has been said that one word of encouragement in the times of failure is worth more than one hour of praise or compliment after success. Colleagues and bosses alike face some tough situations and fail or make mistakes on a daily basis. They need help to deal and cope with fear, doubt, uncertainty and disappointment. What people need desperately is a person like you to come alongside them and encourage them for trying even in the midst of failure or rejection…somebody who acknowledges and accepts them by helping to keep their self confidence still intact despite of the failed attempts and a person who truly cares about them.

Even if people sometimes act tough or strong outside—as if they are calmly and successfully handling the negative emotions and reactions that accompany a mistake, do not believe it! Somewhere, deep down inside, they are flooded with better disappointment and overwhelming feelings of fear and doubts about having made yet another slip up or blunder. Put Heart into Other People at Work. When we put heart into other people when we are working, we actually lead them and make them believe that they can attain greater things than they ever thought possible. To encourage is one of the greatest but easiest and simplest work tools on hand to boost and uplift a boss’ or workmate’s self confidence.

Given below are the following tips to help you to be an encourager on the job. 1.) Notice and recognize the efforts and improvements some colleagues make most especially after a mistake. 2.) Reassure team members or give them a pat on the back after a setback or failure or disappointment. 3.) Show some appreciation for each team member in your office for the contributions they make. 4.) Show others at your workplace that you really care! Radiate a positive influence on their busy work lives by giving them encouragement just because…5.) Accept and value your workmates as they really are and don’t try to put conditions on accepting them.

6.) Act as a fan club member or a cheerleader for a boss or co-worker. Cheerfully assure them, “I know you could do this…” 7.) Deliberately look for some small ways or methods to encourage other people verbally, in writing, or through your behavior towards them. 8.) Help other people in your office to believe in themselves. Point out their own positive characteristics and how these could lead to success in their life.

The universe was formed billions of years ago. Dinosaurs roamed the earth hundreds of millions of years ago. Man first began emerging from his cave several hundred thousand years ago.

This past weekend there was a 90th birthday celebration at Madison Square Garden for the great American icon, Pete Seeger. Today in the LA Times, I read about the passing of another champion, Salamo Arouch, a Greek born Jewish boxer who survived Auschwitz by fighting fellow prisoners in bloody combat. Over a two-year period, he estimated that he fought over 200 times. That was a mere 65 years ago.

Years ago I recognized that the most valuable commodity in life was time. When it’s gone, we never get it again. I am now 63 and theoretically have “less time on the back end than I’ve had on the front end.” A principle tenet of my Work is “the great use of a life is to spend it for something that outlasts it.” Thus I strive daily in my steadfast commitment to do this, but not merely by working hard, but by working consciously. Not just by keeping my shoulder to the wheel but striving to live in a consciousness that respects and values every moment.

For example, as I create this blog, I am consciously aware of the quality of my breath and coordinating my thoughts while listening deeply. In every conversation, I strive to embody the
essence of mind/body/spirit consciousness and of “making voice visual” so as to stay in a continuous connection with Source and Self. What I am saying here is how much information is contained
in a moment and how do we maximize it so that as we live our lives, it is not merely about quantity, but quality. Live in the quality of your moments.

A fundamental aspect of my belief system and teaching principles is structure and time. For decades I have taught how to use time efficiently to help us fulfill goals, accomplish more, etc. But over the last several years, I’ve been shifting, deepening and enhancing this technique to incorporate personal
rituals that become “part of our routine.” Rituals that support a more depthful integration and greater conscious awareness in all endeavors such as: allow a conscious, loving breath. Asking the
question “Am I being who I am or merely presenting who I am?”Thanking Source to start my day or before walking into an important meeting. These rituals support us in being more mindful with how we use our time.

How many of us set goals and then walk away when they intimidate us or our drive dissipates? How many of us create a mission statement and then don’t walk the talk? How many of us
procrastinate? So what I’m basically saying here paraphrasing a line from a popular 1980s film “Network” is “I’m mad as hell and I don’t want to take it anymore!” In this blog I want to awaken us
to the fact that the clock is ticking—we’re only here for a few short years—let’s not waste them. But more than that, honor time and Self so that your being here makes a difference.

When we value time, we value Self. When we keep our commitments to ourselves, we are making a statement that honors us. I encourage you to not just make New Year’s resolutions but to make daily resolutions and review them—daily.Did I use time wisely? Did I honor my Self today? Did I let myself
down and if so, did I forgive and recommit? Did I live today in a way that values time and values Self?

Going forward, let this be our new mantra—“Live time wisely, consciously and conscientiously, and while doing so, honor the company I keep.”

Tips:
1. Analyze a week (168 hours). Discover how you spend it. Evaluate how to strategize your days and your weeks for quality, not just for quantity.

2. Examine my 5th Ritual—Take My Time (It is never how fast—except in a race, but rather how effective.)

3. Create short-term goals with timelines and be accountable. Enjoy the discoveries that await you.
