My life story goes, since the age of 13, people have been bashing me for my religion. I was really strong in it my Sophomore year of High School, until some Freshman came up and said, “You believe in this, you believe in that, you this, you that, I heard this from our preacher that…” But they’ve never asked an LDS person what they believe, they’ve never actually done any searching. When it comes to me, I ask, I don’t bash.
But, ask any LDS (Mormon) what they believe. Why do people say, “no, you don’t” directly after, even from the SOURCE?
Ask if they are Christian. They will ALL say “yes.”
Do they believe in Jesus and God? They will ALL say “yes.”
What is the most thing that they can say that they believe that they are all seperate? Well, they all have individual names, don’t they? Your friend over there and you are not ‘one,’ you are seperate beings, and have seperate names. But besides the point, they act as one. Like a parental unit of husband and wife [an example.]; they work together.
Ask them about Joseph Smith. They do NOT see him as a god. they see him as the one who started our church back up, after seeking the many faiths within the town, after nealing down in a pasture he prayed and asked which one of the faiths were true. Then, with a pillar of light, God and Jesus appeared as seperate beings before him. I forgot who said what, But one of them said, “None of them are true.” Thus, they told Joseph Smith to restore the fullness of the gospel back to earth; because God took it away once because the world was so wicked.
Ask any LDS person about marriage. They believe in being married forever and for all eternity, while the rest of the world believes that it’s death-do-you part; tell me now. Who wants to depart their spouse when they die and be as angels in Heaven? Not me. And have your kids NOT be your kids in heaven if they were not sealed [like a bondance] to you? LDS believes that a family is forever. The sacred temple is the only place to do that; it’s very beautiful place, and each one is dedicated as his house. And yes, there are many. My favorite one is the Salt Lake Temple. Nothing bad happens in the temple. NOTHING. Everything is all about the work for God, just like a church. Whatever rumors you have heard, nothing bad happens here.
The Book of Mormon is another testiment of Jesus Christ. Who says that the profits have to stop by the end of the Bible? People continue to live onward, and the belief of Christ can be written for more generations to come.
LDS/Mormons have standards that stay true to themselves and others. No smoking, no drugs, no sex before marriage, (have all you want after marriage), all due because emotionally it can ruin a person, as well as smoking and drugs can ruin you physically, and your body is a gift from God, and if you insult your body, then you insult God. Makeup is fine to wear, just no tatoos (you might regret it all later…who wouldn’t regret your 5th ex boyfriend on your arm and 3 more later you get married to…not him?)
Any Christian is someone who is a believer and follows Christ.
Those missionaries that come to your door, are on a mission for two years serving the LORD, dedicating 2 years with no TV, nothing to distract them such as the everyday use of computers, and studying their scripture, ready to preach the fullness of the Gospel. With another book, why not hear the rest of the doctrine that has been revealed to us? Every missionary is sent from a different location. Some locally can be sent to Japan or Italy, and not even know the language but they have to learn once they get there. Those can be very hard times. Every one of them has a fullness in heart and are just doing their duty, and they are not trying to annoy you when they knock on their door. Think of them as a messenger from God. Look at their kind hearts, and one day, accept them into your house, and listen to their great message.
Many do not accept because they do not understand; nor want to understand. But the LDS faith is so much deeper than what is said above. Many do not accept the beliefs, but if anyone feels that they are missing out on something in their life, someone, please go look into it.
I’ve been torn down many times. It takes a whole entire person’s life to learn about the fullness of the gospel, even I don’t know everything. I’m just a graduate of High School, holding onto what I know is true, even if my testimony is smaller than what it was when I first entered High School.
Why believe me, you may ask?
Because I AM LDS. I am Mormon. Only the Mormons know about their faith more than any non member.
We are not a bad religion, although many people fall away and create lies because they want to go against it if they’ve failed the church.
We are simply referred as ‘Christians on Steryoids’ because we expou
…expound deeper into more knowledge that is given to us. Don’t believe me?
Go see for yourself…
I wanna find my man and know he is with me forever. (So tired of guys all cheating on me because I don’t give out.) I’m 18. Ready to seek the world. Holding onto that iron rod I am, even if I don’t know everything.
Does any of this make more sense?
I say what we believe and yet other faiths trash it. If you don’t like it, DON’T POST! I don’t need to know your opinions, they are opinions. If you don’t like us, a person of God does not harden their hearts.
Wiki is the website which every school tries to avoid to add in your presentations and assignments. Only our books in our classes are what we learn from, not little webpages; our stuff has been long around since Wikipedia my friend.
***I am a standing member. You don’t need to have the perfect knowledge of things to go and follow Christ. It’s not brain wash if it is by choice.
Regardless of the religion, it is always better to ask someone who actually and currently lives the religion, rather than depend upon hearsay from those who:
1 – are apostates and have an axe to grind for any of many reasons
2 – are anti-religion in general and looking for some “proof” that often has nothing to do with what the religion teaches
3 – are against the religion because it represents a real threat (politically, religiously, or socially) to them and their views
4 – are against the religion because they believe it is “not Christian” like they are
5 – have simply been misled and never bothered to study it out for themselves.
Mormonism isn’t the only religion that is targeted in this manner. Even the most populous Christian denomination, Roman Catholicism, is targeted in this way.
TD’s expected from those who fall into one of the above categories or don’t want to see anything about the targeted religion put before the world.
Add: Bruce R. McConkie was a highly respected and loved leader of the Church, but his work, “Mormon Doctrine” isn’t and has never been doctrinal or established doctrine. It is, at best, a first attempt at a compendium of topics. The first edition was soundly rejected by the leadership of the church and the second edition, while used in many classes, is still subject to its shortcomings. Today, it is seldom quoted because it is far from complete and misleading to those who do not know our doctrines.
2nd Add: Let’s see…Paul stated to the Corinthians that there are gods many and lords many… Hm. That’s a problem and the Mormons are right and rest of Christianity is preaching another Gospel.
What the critics refuse to accept, centering only on the concept that we acknowledge (like Paul) that there are multiple gods, is that, as Paul taught, for us, there is only _one_ God, the Eternal Father, and one Lord, Jesus Christ. Funny how the critics like to leave out the full details about what we teach and believe. For those of you who don’t believe that Paul taught there are multiple gods, read the 8th chapter of 1st Corinthians…
Blondie, your church covers up the past when it becomes too embarrassing. Do you know who Bruce R. McConkie is? Do you know about the racist policies of the Church for over one hundred years? It’s not an “anti-Mormon lie” if it comes from inside the church, is it? What do you think of this excerpt from the book “Mormon Doctrine” by Apostle Bruce R. McKonkie?:
“Of the two-thirds who followed Christ, however, some were more valiant than others ….Those who were less valiant in pre-existence and who thereby had certain spiritual restrictions imposed upon them during mortality are known to us as the negroes. Such spirits are sent to earth through the lineage of Cain, the mark put upon him for his rebellion against God and his murder of Abel being a black skin (Moses 5:16-41; 12:22). Noah’s son Ham married Egyptus, a descendant of Cain, thus preserving the negroes’ lineage through the flood (Abraham 1:20-27). Negroes in this life are denied the priesthood; under no circumstances can they hold this delegation of authority from the Almighty. (Abra. 1:20-27.) The gospel message of salvation is not carried affirmatively to them (Moses 7:8, 12, 22), although sometimes negroes search out the truth, join the Church, and become by righteous living heirs of the celestial kingdom of heaven. President Brigham Young and others have taught that in the future eternity worthy and qualified negroes will receive the priesthood and every gospel blessing available to any man. The present status of the negroes rests purely and simply on the foundation of pre-existence. Along with all races and peoples he is receiving here what he merits as a result of the long pre-mortal probation in the presence of the Lord….The negroes are not equal with other races where the receipt of certain spiritual blessings are concerned, particularly the priesthood and the temple blessings that flow therefrom, but this inequality is not of man’s origin. It is the Lord’s doing.”

mormons believe in multiple gods and goddesses.
so are not christian in their teachings , there are also heaps of other teachings of their religion that are to many here to write that are against the true meaning of what jesus wanted
More than a mouth full! I understand everything that you’ve said, and agree with some. Like the sex part and no drugs and marriage. But I don’t believe that all people go to heaven or burn in hell. I do believe that God and Jesus are in union with one another but are separate beings. I believe that if a persons spouse dies and they have remained together up until that point they are free to marry only within the LORD, so if they choose.
If a person is only let’s say twenty when they get married and Lord forbid their spouse dies at the age of twenty two, you expect that person to stay single for the rest of their natural lives. Which will lead to depression, anxiety, and most likely fornication, they should remarry within the congregation. By doing so they are in union with their thoughs and religious beliefs. You may think this is silly. But again who are you to say anything about what another persons beliefs are.
Therefore the moment you find out that you are not able to reason with these ones, to help them to see your point of view, it’s best to just leave the conversation alone at that point.
This is the problem that you are having with these other people. We too need to be reasonable with ourselves and understand that not everyone infact a great deal of people are not going to agree with you. So allow them to uphold their faith while you do the same and accept that for what it is. If they are bashing your religion, why stay there and listen, you will not win or get through to them.
To each his/her own and most of the time we have to leave it like that. If you are comfortable with your religion, who cares what someone else may think. I’m very much so comfortable with mine and it’s going to stay that way until I die.
I was a good Mormon for many years. I did not fail as a Mormon but Mormonism failed me! From that experience I am convinced, without a doubt, that human beings can be so brain washed they are willing to march to their deaths with smiles on their faces just like lemmings.
Religion is a sickness and most die with it firmly shorting out much of the circuitry in their brains. I am blessed to have escaped the religious madness of men. If there is a God, I pray It will release all of us from the heinous grasp of religious servitude and blindness.
.
It always perplexes me that people just accept what is said about a religion, without checking the facts of what a given denomination believes.
As one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, I have been “accused” of believing all sorts of oddball stuff which has absolutely not basis in fact.
So……………For those who think they know what others believe, ask a person who is IN GOOD STANDING with that religion what they do actually believe.
.
You have the Book of Mormon Jesus, and on Polygamy, some people in the bible did not practise it, so they go to hell?
and God did not tell the O.T. people one day to practise it and then the nest not to, but you Mormons claim this. Your Joseph Smith was led by a Spirit Guide not an angel from God, your BofM was written by an angel, the bible was written by God big diff!
Your priesthood is nothing more then pagan/freemason priestcraft. The way to get into heaven you will see is thru handshakes and secret names. And this is what you call Godly??? What four books were nto enough for you baout Jesus??? matt. mark Luke and John. was not enough you had to add a fifth one? Yea my parents heeded the WofW and they have had nothign but medical problems plaque them as well. Where is the blessing???
As for me, I was always depressed and suicidal, when I got saved, I was freed from my suicidal tendancied.
PAULS WAS TALKING ABOUT THE PAGAN GODS THE MORMON WORSHIP ON THE UT TEMPLES WITH YOUR MOON STONES AND SUN STONES AND BIG DIPPER SYMBOLS ALL FORBIDDEN IN DEU. 17:2-3!!!!! OLD TIMER!!!! LOOK ON TH E OUTSIDE OF ANY UT TEMPLE AND YOU WILL SEE THESE FORBIDDEN PAGAN SYMBOLS TO YOUR SKY GODS!!!!
Sad
I read your question/comments and then read the answers posted…
many of the answers provided you with an excellent example of what you are talking about. Ironic don’t you think.
I imagine that’s the way it has always been. People ridiculed Noah as he built his ship, prophets were killed because they taught the truth, the Savior was mocked and hung for his teachings…
There always will be those in the big and spacious building mocking and ridiculing others who press forward in faith.
lol. no tv or computer. two young “elders” visited me weekly for about 12 weeks, often using my laptop to chat to their mates back in the us. we’d open a page to research something, then they’d have another page open having a talk with their friends at the same time.
alright, it’s less about what you believe, and more about why you believe it. with your emotional attachment and, no doubt. personal burning bosom testimony, you’re too involved to look at it objectively.
so let’s remove the argument from our personal bias and have an objective look at others, shall we?
how does the bible attest that it is the word of god? through prophecy. all must come true or it is not from god.
so did jesus speak for god? yep, temple was pulled down and not one stone left upon another. etc. all his have come to pass on schedule. some are cryptic for sure, but failed no.
did muhammad speak for god? his prophecies failed at the battle of uhud. after the success of badr, he prophesied victory, but was defeated, his face smashed by a sword, nearly killed. later he said allah had changed his mind because he wanted to call some of them to himself.
too old? something more recent?
does the watchtower speak for god? they repeatedly claim to be a prophet in their magazines, although ask a witness and the answer is convoluted. they prophesied armageddon in 1914. when it didn’t come, they said they have received new light and it is now 1915, oops 1918, umm 1925 when abraham resurrects, or 1975, or in the 20th century.every failed prophecy breeds denial and revisionism.
so is joseph smith a prophet? tell me, is there a mormon bank which has swallowed all other banks? is there a temple at the temple lot?
no.
and since the deciphering of the rosetta stone, we know from the book of abraham that he could not translate either.
and if you are followinf a false prophet you are not christian.
Don’t worry about any other religious person trying to convince you their religion is better. For they are all man made falsities used to control the masses.
You are well spoken, thoughtful and intelligent.
You’re going to be very unhappy in this forum. Get used to the hatred. It never gets any better.
@OLD TIMER sorry ya all worship the queen of Heaven but it has been hush hush for years since 1993. She or they is/are the wive/wives of your God, as forbidden in Jer. 44.
Sweetie, the world does not understand us. Satan has stirred up opposition to the truth and those that live the Gospel of Jesus Christ. You don’t have to be ashamed or feel apologetic about your choice to belong to the Church. Jesus was mocked, some were and are killed for their testimony. You have many blessings at your door and have the tools to live a healthy life and have a family and marriage they way it was designed to be and work. Your belief in Heavenly Father and His Beloved Son will be strengthened by opposition and your determination and revelation of the solid rock the true church gives us. Just think, because of the restored church we have so much more understanding and scripture available to us. We are the example and we do it humbly even though mocked misjudged and stereo typed. Yes most that rail against LDS doctrine know little facts about it. They are misled and tricked fear what Satan fears the revelation of Truth and the restored Gospel. We can only live the life the Savior has taught us to live, forgive those that offend us, and carry on our lives as a testimony of the True and Living God. God Bless You . You are a rare gem and a true beauty to esteem chastity in such a sexually sinful world. You are a beacon and a ray of hope, a true example. Thank You. Don’t get discouraged by the nay sayers. Keep the faith and fight the good fight.
You have a strong testimony and faith. Don’t let others drag you down. Endure to the end and find your answers in the scriptures. There are mean-spirited people in this world and they try to drag you down to make their own little miserable lives better. Ignore them.
What exactly is the question here? It seems like a lot of rambling without asking anything. When I was an active LDS member, I only knew what the church wanted me to know, therefore I wasn’t a good source for the whole truth. I have no “axe to grind” against mormons, or I’d be against my entire family. I just came to realize it’s not true and that there were a lot of facts kept from me while I was a member.
